Fundraising for High School Computer Labs in Jombang

Joe Taylor, one of our members, is organising a fundraising to furnish a computer lab featuring 20 desktop computers, four printers, and wireless internet access for a high school in Jombang (via Peace Corps). For the tech savvy, we’ve nudged Joey to use Ubuntu or Mint, but technical training will be needed. Please see the page for details.


Pembangunan Industri Filem Hindia

Bagi yang tertarik dengan sejarah film dan bioskop, Jurnal Footage baru menerbitkan terjemahan satu artikel dari majalah berbahasa Belanda, Koloniale Studien, Vol. 25/No. 5/1941 yang diberi judul “De vestiging van een Indische Filemindustrie”. Artikel ini ditulis oleh Nio Joe Lan, wartawan, penulis, dan editor Sin Po yang dikenal atas kajiannya mengenai sastra Melayu-Tionghoa. Simak artikelnya dalam dua seri.


Visions of Change | call for artwork submissions for UN publications

The United National Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) is seeking submissions of artwork on the theme “Visions of Change” to illustrate new editions of UNRISD publications.

“Visions of Change” encourages creative thinkers from all over the world to submit artwork that illustrates key social development values, themes and issues. A selection of UNRISD’s most forward-looking and influential publications from the last 50 years—UNRISD Classics—will be re-released in 2013, with covers featuring artwork selected from submissions to Visions of Change. Selected artwork will also be exhibited at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2013. More info at culture360.org.
