Memory does not always disappear. Sometimes it simply moves into silence, the body, places, and the traces that remain.
We invite you to Between Silence, a Lecture Performance: Artistic Research & Film by Kexin Hong, a Chinese multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker based in the Netherlands. During one month of research in Surabaya, Kexin undertook a returning journey tracing the memory of Tiong Ang and the traces of the political violence of 1965 through archives, conversations, and symbolic imagery. In this program, Kexin shares her research journey while presenting a film still in development, a process moving between memory, loss, and an unfinished history.
